Team Up With Men Fighting HIV.

PROJECT T RESULTS ANNOUNCED IN VIENNA!

Project T was a study for HIV negative gay & bisexual men and transgender women (MTF), testing whether HIV negative people can safely take a daily pill, tenofovir, a commonly prescribed pill used for HIV treatment. The study was not designed to measure whether tenofovir might reduce the risk of HIV infection. This prevention method is called pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP.

This study was sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and conducted in San Francisco, Boston, and Atlanta. 200 of the 400 participants were Bay Area residents, and this study could not have been completed successfully without them.

Results showed that there were no major safety concerns, and participants did not increase their sexual risk taking behavior.

Please join us and STOP AIDS on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:30pm for a community forum to learn more about these results. The forum will be held at the Bank of America Community Room, 501 Castro St., 2nd floor.
